Racing Hairstyles at Melbourne Cup 2022 - Tiara's are back!

The Melbourne Cup, not just a race that has the whole nation watching, but also the centre stage for some trending hair styles! It's all the perfect way to see hair trends for 2023!

This year was all about effortless yet eye catching style to match the “all out glamour” theme. This ranged from beach waves and blow outs to ringlet curls, some even paired with the iconic ‘look at me’ head pieces that really had the crowd cheering. Not to mention a number of Princess Tiara's.

Let’s have a look at some of the favourite hair styles that really rocked the Melbourne Cup this year.

Christian Wilkins Melbourne Cup 2022 with Mermade Hair

Christian Wilkins (picture by Jason Edwards), the 27-year-old model let down his golden locks in stunningly crashing waves that just seemed to flow effortlessly. Paired with a tiara and a pastel green silk suit he was out to ‘break’ Melbourne Cup’s gender bound rules that were in place this year.
As quoted, “I feel like [the cup carnival] was so guided by these very strict, gender-bound rules and to break that open and just allow people to express themselves how they want to be, that’s such a key ethos that I live my life by,” Wilkins told news.com.au.

Bec Judd (picture from becjudd/Instagram) turned the volume up in scarlet red, along with a very spicy wide brimmed hat. The 39-year-old mum of four and popular beauty influencer flaunted her signature blow out that looked both effortless and glamorous.

The lovely Myer ambassador, Tayla Damir (picture by Jason Edwards) brough some sunshine to the carnival with a bright yellow outfit and a stunning smile that was framed by her natural dark ringlets. The natural curls were described as a ‘risky’ choice, but we feel that it really was worth it.

Kate Waterhouse Barbiecore Melbourne Cup 2022 with Mermade Hair

And finally, the Channel 7 presenter Kate Waterhouse (picture by Matrix) went full Barbiecore (another popular 2022 trend) in a slip pink ensemble with a classy updo finished with a splash of glamour from a twinkling tiara. The messy yet stylish bun reminds us of the Pamela Anderson up-do (one look sported by Kim Kardashian – picture from Instagram @kimkardashian), where gently curled loose strands of hair framed her face.
