How to Get Sarah Pidgeon’s Effortless Waves from Love Story
If you’ve been watching the new series Love Story, you can’t help but notice one thing: the hair. Sarah Pidgeon, who plays Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy (CBK), has been serving effortless, textured mermaid waves that feel completely undone yet undeniably chic. The look is soft, tousled, and “I just woke up like this’ the kind of beach wave that’s impossible not to fall in love with.
Why Her Waves Work
Sarah Pidgeon’s hair in the show is the perfect example of “controlled chaos.” Loose, face-framing strands fall naturally, the mid-lengths bend softly, and the ends have just enough movement to feel relaxed without looking messy. It’s not a sculpted wave, it’s lived-in, touchable, and infinitely wearable.

How to Recreate the Iconic CBK Waves
1. Prep Your Hair
Start with dry hair and apply a lightweight heat protectant. This ensures your waves are smooth, glossy, and protected from styling heat.
2. Choose Your Tool
The 32mm Pro Waver or M Infrared Waver is ideal for creating loose, flowing bends that mimic those effortless on-screen waves.
3. Section and Wave
Take 2–3 inch sections of hair. Wrap loosely around the waver, alternating directions for a natural, tousled effect. Don’t strive for perfection, the slightly undone finish is what makes the look so effortless.
4. Add Texture
Use the Wax Stick lightly through mid-lengths and ends. Focus on random strands to create separation and that “piecey, just-rolled-out-of-bed” texture.
5. Finish Softly
To finish don’t brush, if needed go in with your fingers and separate the waves. Lightly mist with a flexible hairspray or texturising spray to hold waves without stiffness. Flip your hair over so it is swished to one side (just like she does in the series) and you will have the perfect undone, edgy beach wave that makes her look so iconic.
